The Marshall Fire was not supposed to be possible. Homes built using modern building codes and materials are not supposed to burn to the ground. A community miles away from the nearest forested land is not supposed to be decimated by a wildfire. Yet, in spite of what is supposed to be, on December 30, 2021, 1,084 structures burned and two lives were lost in a fire that caused more than $2 billion in damage.

In the face of this unlikely catastrophe, what can we observe about fire-resistant construction? What can be done to help prevent similar disasters in the future?

This webinar will look at the lessons learned by those who fought the fire and researched the aftermath. We'll also look at the basis for fire testing and emerging Code requirements. Finally, we'll discuss construction options such as masonry and other economical non-combustible materials.
